CANTAR DA COSTA: DIVULGING THE CULTURE OF BRASIL

Cantar da Costa is a forum dedicated to Brazilian culture, visual and performing arts, social and enviromental issues which was initiated by La Centrale dell’Arte under the curatorship of Jaja and Natalia Indrimi in 1996.
The project seeks to design and facilitate the production of Brazilian cultural events that incorporate  research and entertainment.
Since 1996 Cantar da Costa has offered music, theater and dance performances, film screenings, exhibitions and seminars which combine an original selection of artists, and provides a thorough documentation of their work.
By offering consistent and well-rounded programming Cantar da Costa seeks to facilitate a respectuful understanding of  the history and culture of Brasil. In addition the project supports the broadening of  the international perception of Brasil’s contemporary aesthetic, which is still too often associated with a very limited number of icons and stereotypes.

Cantar da Costa has been hosted by numerous venues in Italy and New York including The Teatro Carlo Felice, Teatro Modena, Biblioteca Berio, and Palazzo Ducale in Genoa; the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo, by the Brazilian Embassy in Rome, and by Lincoln Center Out of Doors in New York.

Cantar da Costa presented a rich series of events and many Italian and European premières.
